Mr.Zhao Jianguo, started from a wood instrument factory, now chairman of Jimei Furnishings Market Group signed an agreement with a French property company to invest in Paris to establish Jimei Furnishings (Paris) Trading centre, a market for Chinese furniture in suburb Paris.

The signing ceremony was held in Aulnay City Hall, located about middle way between Paris and Charles de Gaulle Airport.

It is reported that Beijing Jimei Furnishings Market Group, after a year’s investigation and several rounds of consultations, purchased two commercial buildings (250,000m2) in Aulnay. In the first phase of the project, Jimei will invest nearly 8 million euros. At the second phase when the project is being finished, there will be a furnishings market gathering a number of Chinese furnishings & building materials enterprises.

As a middle school teacher, Mr. Zhao went into business in 1984 and started Jianguo Wood Instrument Factory. Over 25 years, Beijing Jimei Furnishings Market Group has become the largest comprehensive individually-run enterprise in Beijing’s furnishings & building materials market.

Mr. Zhao expressed his wish to build an exhibition and wholesale base in France by allying domestic furnishings & building materials enterprises. Meanwhile, the base will attract more French brands to China.

In his view, France’s furniture import takes up 70% of furniture import volume in the world, second only to America and Germany. Since 2002, China has become the largest furniture exporter and France’s third largest furniture exporter. China’s furniture and building materials are good and inexpensive, which helps China’s enterprises adapt to the new environment and win European customers’ favour.

At the signing ceremony Gérard Ségura, Mayor of Aulnay, expressed that the entrance of Chinese enterprises would present huge opportunities and would definitely promote Aulnay’s development. For example, the project will create jobs for hundreds of people. He affirmed that local government would fully support the project by offering favourable policies on transportation and verification. At last, he said: “with common efforts we’ll surely succeed and make progress together.”
